Roland was born in 1972 in Zeist, a little village near Utrecht, the Netherlands. During his youth he played piano, then cello, guitar, and then back to piano (Fender Rhodes to be precise). Right now he is not playing very often, just little chops for in the studio. Roland says ~SI can remember my parents playing classical music on the piano. They where quite good at it. It must have been Debussy or something. I think that is the first music I can remember. When I grew older I loved to listen to Jimmy Hendrix, Santana and the Doors. Then there was Herbie Hancock whose music I played a lot. I absolutely adored ~SRockit~T and his album ~SSecrets~T.
Thanks to a lot of experimenting with guitar effect pedals Roland found his new passion in the early nineties: electronic music. Starting out basicly with a sampler, synth and Atari computer he has been producing electronic music since 1992. Numerous tracks and remixes under various names have been released since that time. Besides Roland Klinkenberg you may find his tracks under the name of Cruzeman, Freak Force (with Danny Bakker), Low tech Style, RR Workshop (with DJ Remy), Radiance (a Drum & Bass project) and Tyler Durden.
Roland likes to work with his collegues in the field and colaborations include: Sacha Grootveld (the first released record), Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Bakker, Ingmar Pauly (a.k.a Novamen) Martijn Hoogendijk (a.k.a. Alden Tyrell), Miss Bunty, Armin van Buuren and last but not least DJ Remy, who has become a close friend. Today, Roland mostly works with DJ Remy (who lives 5 minutes from Roland~Rs house) with whom he produces tracks for Remy~Rs label 68 Recordings and lately a track for Yoshitoshi. Labels for which Roland has been producing include: SIM, Fresh Fruit, Lost Language, Additive, Audio Therapy, Perfecto, Electronic Elements, LMR, Pivotal, Area Code 070, Coded, Yoshotoshi and 68 Recordings and last but not least Global Underground, on which he released his first artist album ~SMexico Can Wait~T.
Some mix cds that include tracks from Roland are: GU cds by Paul Oakenfold, Nick Warren and two by John Digweed, Northern Exposure (Sacha & Digweed), Renaissance (Dave Seaman). Also, the track ~SOhmSessions~T was used on the Playstation game ~STotal Drivin~T. Although Roland is primarily a producer he can be found occasionaly doing a DJ gig. Roland says ~SDJ-ing used to be more a fun thing, but it~Rs getting more serious these days as I~Rm getting a lot of requests for bookings all over the world. Also, getting some good tunes has become much easier with download portals such as Beatport. When I am playing somewhere it reminds me again why I am a producer: it is very satisfying to see people~Rs faces when they like your tracks, and it makes me want to produce more and better tracks. My music carreer is far from over and is really taking off now.~T
